It all began in 2002 when Ontario Windsmith Inc. started to install the first 50m tall tubular met towers made by NRG Systems. Very quickly more services were added, like deployment and maintenance of SoDAR systems, climbing of lattice tower structures and the installation of solar monitoring equipment.
In 2016 the owner of Ontario Windsmith sold his business to Markus Schoenberger, his main technician over the previous 13 years. Markus now operates this business under the new name MetTek Services Inc. Collaborative relationships have been established with other companies to provide an even wider spectrum of services and turnkey solutions.

Markus Schoenberger is the President and Lead Technician for the company. Born and raised in Germany, Markus completed his apprenticeship there as a tool and die maker and worked in this industry for seven years. During that time he achieved his Master Craftsman certification. After immigrating to Canada in 2003 he started working for Ontario Windsmith. There he quickly became the lead technician in all activities of the company, managing most projects and acting as the foreman.
Markus now is owner of this business. He holds current training and certification in Working at Heights, Fall Protection, High Angle Rescue and First Aid.

Dave Welch is a Master Electrician who is licensed in the Province of Ontario by the Electrical Safety Authority. His work is not only in general electrical installations but he also specializes in Generators, Transfer Switches, Switchgear, UPS, DC Power Plants and Batteries. The years he spent working for Enercon Canada as a Senior Technician provided him with extensive experience and understanding of the wind power industry.  Dave’s knowledge and contacts in the electrical field are a great asset for MetTek. He also holds current training and certification in Working at Heights, Fall Protection, High Angle Rescue and First Aid.
